The Parliament of the Kingdom of Cambodia is to host the 9th Asian Parliamentary Assembly (APA) Plenary Session in the end of 2016 after successfully hosting the 8th APA in the early December of 2015.
In order to ensure the success of the 9th APA Plenary, the Parliament of the Kingdom of Cambodia, on 04 February 2016, held a preparatory meeting to outline work plan and timetable from now on until the opening day of the international plenary.
H.E. Dr. Pen Pannha, Chairman of the Commission on Legislation and Justice of the National Assembly of the Kingdom of Cambodia, and H.E. Mr. Leng Peng Long, Secretary-General of the National Assembly of the Kingdom of Cambodia, co-chaired the said crucial meeting.
It is emphasized that the Asian Parliamentary Assembly (APA), which comprises of 42 Member Parliaments from Asian countries, is annually held. The host country is required to organize this assembly for two consecutive years, like the Kingdom of Cambodia, which once hosted the 8th APA Plenary Session in 2015, is set to host the 9th Asian Parliamentary Assembly Plenary Session again in the late 2016. At the meantime, before the approach of the event, APA normally organizes its Executive Council Meeting. To this end, from now on until the organizing day of the 9th APA Plenary Session, the Cambodian Parliament is occupied with a whole lot of tasks that need to be fulfilled in its capacity as the host.
According to its working calendar in preparation for the 9th APA Plenary for February 2016, the Cambodian Parliament is scheduled to establish the Organizing Committee, Sub-committee of the Meetings, APA National Secretariat and First Executive Council Meeting of the 9th APA Plenary. Furthermore, the Parliament shall form the composition of the Cambodian parliamentary delegation participating in the First and Second Executive Council Meetings of the 9th APA Plenary Session and the meetings of all four Permanent Standing Committee, including the Special Committee.
